Chapter 131 The Beautiful Scenery of Andor
Chapter 131 The Beautiful Scenery of Andor
Crossing Northern Tibet: The dream-chasing journey from Nagqu to Anduo is about to begin again.
At dawn, the streets of Nagqu were still shrouded in a thin, chilly breeze. Zhang Bei had already climbed into the driver's seat of his pickup truck, full of energy. Xiao Xing, holding the red panda Po, sat next to him, her eyes curved. "Brother Zhang Bei, you have to take a few more pictures of the snow-capped mountains today. I think the scenery along the way could fill a whole album."
Zhang Bei started the car with a smile. The sound of the engine broke the silence. The pickup truck took the lead and drove towards National Highway 109.
At the back, Li Fugui slowly started the RV. In the car, Sister Tao was selecting photos along the way for the little god of wealth Zhang Tingjian and Zhang Nan, and muttered: "Don't be greedy, the scenery along the way is beautiful, it would be a pity to miss it." The two little friends opened their eyes in a daze, and instantly became energetic, sticking to the car window to look out.
Embarking on the Road to Amdo: Encountering the First Breeze of the Plateau
The car drove smoothly on the road. On both sides of the road, the outline of Nagqu city gradually faded away, replaced by endless plateau meadows. At first, the meadow seemed like a green paint palette overturned by nature. The continuous emerald green spread out wantonly, and among them were scattered unknown small flowers like stars. Purple, yellow, and white, trembling in the wind, as if whispering a welcome. In the distance, the snow-capped mountains were hidden behind the light clouds, with only the white spires showing. It was like a dream, causing the people in the car to exclaim in surprise. Zhang Bei slowed down the car and opened the window. The cold wind, carrying the fragrance of grass and earth, rushed in. Xiao Xing took a deep breath and said: "This smell is what northern Tibet should have."
As the altitude climbed, the scenery became increasingly magnificent. The meadows faded from their tender green to a tinge of yellow, a subtle, gradational painting of the seasons. Herds of yaks appeared, their thick fur shielding them from the chill wind. They paced steadily, their heads lowered to graze, like ancient guardians of the plateau, oblivious to the passing vehicles. Zhang Bei, seizing the perfect opportunity, parked the car and jumped out to stretch. Xiao Xing, camera in hand, ran toward the yaks, snapping away, not forgetting to turn back and shout, "Come on, take a picture with the yaks! How cool!" The RV arrived shortly after, and Li Fugui joked, "At this speed, you're trying to keep all the beautiful scenery to yourself." Everyone laughed and joked, capturing this beautiful moment.
Cycling in Anduo: Encountering Ultimate Beauty and Freedom
In Anduo, Xiao Taojie got on a bicycle and Zhang Nan rode a motorcycle to set off. It was definitely an adventure full of challenges and surprises, which could unlock the beautiful scenery that ordinary tourists could hardly reach.
Zhang Bei filmed the most beautiful video of cycling on the plateau for them. Zhang Nan felt a little regretful that she had never experienced cycling. This is the place with the least vehicles on the plateau, so she could boldly try it and see if she could get used to the feeling of cycling on the plateau.
In the early morning, the cool, thin air was tinged with a hint of chill. After gearing up, we set off, the wheels slowly turning, and instantly we were transported to a vast plateau landscape. At the start of the ride, rolling meadows lay beside us, the yellowish grass swaying in the strong breeze, as if whispering a welcome. In the distance, snow-capped mountains resembled silvery giants, their peaks crowned with snow. The sunlight poured down, reflecting a holy light, like the radiance of a god. Riding amidst this, the insignificance of a human being confronted with the majestic nature, awe-inspiring and soul-stirring experience.
As we progressed, we occasionally encountered herds of yaks and Tibetan sheep, some leisurely grazing, some crossing the road. Motorcycles could nimbly slow down to avoid them, allowing cyclists to experience the animals' agility and wildness up close, their simple breath of life washing over them. Along the way, we occasionally encountered herders dressed in traditional Tibetan robes, who greeted us with friendly smiles and waves, their simple kindness warming our hearts.
Cycling in Andor is no easy feat. The high altitude makes every pedal stroke and every throttle twist a lot harder, while lack of oxygen causes rapid breathing and a racing heartbeat. Unpredictable weather is a formidable challenge: one moment the sky is clear, the next moment dark clouds roll in and hail falls. Strength depletes rapidly in the face of the harsh conditions, but once you persevere and conquer a long climb, looking back on your journey brings a sense of accomplishment.
As night falls and the stars dominate the sky, we find a sheltered spot to set up camp. Wrapped tightly in our sleeping bags, we recall the exhilaration of galloping across the plateau during the day and the breathtaking scenery we encountered. We are exhausted, yet filled with sweetness. Cycling in Anduo is about surveying the land on two wheels, encountering breathtaking scenery amidst hardships and forging a resilience that is etched deep in our memories, a thrilling journey we will savor for the rest of our lives.
Impressions of Anduo: A resilient city in the clouds
Approaching Anduo County, the landscape becomes increasingly harsh and icy. With an average altitude exceeding 4800 meters, Anduo seems suspended in the clouds, its thin air piercing with a chill, yet its unique beauty cannot be concealed. Continuous snow-capped mountains stretch across the horizon like a giant silver dragon, their massive peaks stacked one upon another, their snow gleaming golden in the sunlight, blinding the eye. At the foot of the mountains, dappled highland meadows intersperse, their tenacious grasses rustling in the wind, creating a striking contrast with the snow-capped peaks, a harmonious blend of strength and softness.
Driving into the county town, the narrow streets conveyed a sense of leisurely flow, brimming with pedestrians and vehicles. Tibetan-style dwellings, scattered across the landscape, featured white walls and brown tiles, their doors and window frames painted with vibrant religious motifs. The vibrant colors spoke of faith and heritage. A rich, milky aroma drifted from the corner teahouse, where elderly men in traditional Tibetan robes sat around, twirling Buddhist beads and whispering quietly, capturing the tranquility of time. Zhangbei found an open space to park the car, and the group entered the teahouse. Simmering butter tea dispelled the chill, while Sister Tao chatted with the proprietress, learning a few simple Tibetan phrases, much to the laughter of the children.
Snowstorm: Helping each other in times of crisis
Just as they were enjoying themselves, the sky suddenly changed. Leaden clouds rolled in like a tide, and in an instant, heavy snow fell, blanketing the world in white. Zhang Bei frowned and looked out the window. "This snow is coming hard! We need to find shelter quickly." With that, the group hurried back to the car. The pickup truck led the way, struggling through the snow, its wheels often slipping and spinning. The RV followed closely behind, its body swaying. Everyone inside was a little nervous. Sister Xiao Tao gently comforted them, "Don't be afraid. Li Fugui and Brother Zhang Bei are here."
The snow was too thick, obstructing his vision. Zhang Bei squinted his eyes and stared at the road ahead, beads of sweat oozing from his forehead. Suddenly, the pickup truck shook violently and fell into a snow pit. Li Fugui saw this and hurriedly stopped the car. Everyone gathered around. The wind and snow made it difficult for people to stand. Zhang Bei picked up a shovel and worked hard to shovel the snow. Li Fugui found a rope from the RV and prepared to tow the car. Xiao Xing was not idle either. She comforted the frightened Abao and handed hot water to the people who were shoveling snow from time to time. After a lot of trouble, the pickup truck was finally freed with the joint efforts of everyone. Everyone hugged and cheered. Although the wind and snow were cold, they warmed each other's hearts.
Overnight in Anduo: A warm camp under the starry sky
As night fell, the wind and snow died down, and the sky was filled with stars like broken diamonds. The group found a sheltered valley to camp. Zhang Bei and Li Fugui set up their tents and lit a bonfire. In the RV, Sister Tao cooked steaming instant noodles with ham and pickled mustard greens, and the aroma filled the air. Sitting around the bonfire, the flames licked the firewood, crackling and illuminating everyone's faces. Zhang Tingjian held his chin with his hands, looked at the starry sky and muttered, "Why are there so many stars here, so bright, as if they are about to fall down." Xiao Xing smiled and embraced him, "This is the treasure of northern Tibet. You can't see it in big cities."
In the distance, the occasional call of a nocturnal wild animal would evoke Abao's alarmed barking. Zhang Bei gently chided him and tossed him a bone to soothe him. By the flickering firelight, everyone shared anecdotes from their journey, from the awe of Everest Base Camp, the comfort of the Yangbajing Hot Springs, to today's thrilling snowstorm. Their words were filled with cherishment for this journey. As sleep began to creep in, Sister Tao hummed a gentle lullaby. Accompanied by the chirping of insects and the rustling of the wind, everyone drifted off to sleep, their dreams still filled with snow-capped mountains, meadows, and the vast expanse of northern Tibet.
Leaving Amdo: Starting anew with hope
The next morning, the gentle sunlight awoke everyone. After packing up the tents and cleaning up the camp, the car headed back to National Highway 109. Looking back at Anduo, this small city in the clouds stood quietly, bearing the memory of a night of wind and snow, a warm campfire, and a journey of deep affection. Xiao Xing's eyes reddened slightly. "I'm really reluctant to leave. This feels like home." Zhang Bei patted the steering wheel, his eyes determined. "Don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunities to come back. Northern Tibet is so vast, there's so much more to see."
The RV slowly caught up, the two vehicles moving side by side, heading towards an unknown path. Ahead, sunlight streamed down, outlining the road, as if guiding the way. On the plateau, the tenacity of life, the adventures of travel, and the warmth of human kindness transformed into a deep inner strength, accompanying everyone on their journey to the next stage of the journey. The wheels rolled, and the story continued. This journey from Nagqu through Amdo was etched deep into our souls, a precious memory that would shimmer with brilliance every time we recalled it for the rest of our lives.
