Chapter 226 Enlightenment
Chapter 226 Enlightenment
Liang Ying, a modern talk show host, and Su Chen, please take the stage at 10:30 AM on the same day.
After taking the brush, Wan Shouzheng picked up his pen.
Su Chen stood up.
He had three things in his hands: a certificate of the highest honor in the industry, a small box he picked up from SF Express at nine o'clock in the morning, and a folded A4 sheet he took out of his pocket.
He picked up the microphone.
"I am Su Chen," he said. "I'm here today to say a few words."
He paused for a moment.
"First," he said, picking up the small box in his hand.
The small box contained a chip, about the size of a fingernail.
"The first batch of 45nm SoCs rolled off the production line in Hangzhou at 9 a.m. today," he said. "This is the first batch of 45nm SoCs in mass production."
He paused for a moment.
"Vilan's production line simulation follows the entire process, China Aviation MEMS follows the later-stage 50-nanometer probe, and Hua focuses on design and tape-out."
He looked up.
"The first batch of 1,200 samples had a yield rate of 96.4%," he paused, "and the second round of verification yielded 99.1%."
The lights in the arena flashed, but the reporters in the arena continued to press the shutter button on their cameras.
Su Chen placed the small box on the table.
He picked up the A4 sheet, folded out the curve on it, and saw three points on the curve. The lowest point was October 2020, the highest point was July 2021, and the rightmost point was 99.1.
He raised his hand, turning the curved line on the folded page towards the audience.
"This," he said, "is the convergence curve of the submicron node process simulation."
He paused.
"Comparison above," he said. "Siemens, Synaptics, and Ansy, all from the same group at Saning Labs, with the same input and using the same submicron node, converged at three points: 81, 84, and 87."
He paused.
"Vilan Simulation, 99.1 points"
The scene erupted in uproar
In the third row of the VIP section is Cai Jiemin, the former CEO of Yuxin, who has now been promoted to board advisor by the Yuxin board of directors.
In the third row of the VIP section was Li Huajun, the former CTO. His name has now been removed from the internet.
In the third row of the VIP section sat Chen Daze, the former CEO of TSMC. He has now been appointed as a "senior advisor" to TSMC by the board of directors. He raised his hand to wipe his glasses.
None of the three spoke; they all looked at Su Chen.
Su Chen ignored them.
"Excuse me," a reporter in the room raised his hand. He wore a badge that read "Computer Weekly." "Academician Su Chen, the simulated route in Weilan reaches point 99.1. Is there any company that can reach that point?"
Su Chen glanced at him.
"On the submicron node architecture," he said, "there is currently no second simulation pipeline that can reach this convergence."
He paused.
"The reason is not complicated," he said. "They have been working on simulation for thirty years, and they are using empirical parameters. We are using third-order nonlinear physical models. They have entered the submicron node but they can't get out. We have entered but they can't get up to this level."
He paused.
"But," he said, "after moving beyond the submicron node, the architecture moves into CMOS, power, optoelectronics, and quantum interaction. Once we reach those areas, simulation can't keep up, so we can't stop."
He looked up.
"Today," he said, "Weilan will send out a name, Qiming."
A murmur rippled through the crowd below, followed by the name "Qiming." They heard it clearly.
"Qiming is Vilan's first vertical road project," he said. "Qiming is a national-level, general-purpose industrial simulation operation system."
He paused.
"Qiming focuses on five areas: CMOS, power devices, optoelectronics, quantum interaction, and MEMS as the founder."
He paused, then added, "Behind Qiming is a joint initiative by Vilan, Qirui, MEMS institutions, the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Liangying brand."
"The route has been in place for eleven years," he said, "starting from today."
He looked up.
"In this field, only four companies have reached the international mainstream today, and these four companies have been doing this for thirty years."
He paused.
"Today," he said, "I went to the fifth one."
Applause erupted in the arena.
Then Dean Chen raised his hand, tested the microphone, and said.
"Qiming," he said, "the name Qiming."
He paused.
"Thirteen years ago," he said, "in June 2008, in an electronics company, an academician asked the company to invest in his self-developed EDA by submitting his resignation letter. The letter stated 'not listened to,' and he had already resigned and left. The company did not invest."
He paused.
"That academician walked out of his research institute."
He paused.
"For the next fifteen years," he said, "he didn't join the organization."
The room was quiet.
He then added a sentence.
"Qiming Shang," he said, "the five academicians were protected for fifteen years."
He lowered his head and did not reveal his name.
But the last of the five academicians in the audience was named Shen Shouhong.
Shen Shouhong is 6 years old this year. In June 2008, he submitted his resignation letter to a company requesting that they invest in his self-developed EDA, but the request was not accepted.
Today he went on stage and checked that name.
Today he heard the word "enlightenment".
He held the pen in both hands.
He didn't mention the two people in the stands, Dean Chen and Su Chen.
The two people on stage didn't look at him.
But the words "Qiming" were meant for him to hear.
……
On the same day, at 10:50 a.m., Zhongguancun South Street, Beijing.
Huang Qiming's office.
Huang Qiming is an agent for Synaptics and Ansys. He's been in Zhongguancun for twenty years. Today, he's walking that stage in his life where he was "walked up from behind by Wei Lan."
Last August, Huang Qiming was rejected by Weilan B+ round of funding.
Huang Qiming's matter was inappropriate.
He picked up the phone and made 65 WeChat calls. Those WeChat contacts were his agency clients, MEMS institutions, SMIC, JCET, and Huatian.
He sent it.
"The Vilan project, the Qiming track, Synaptics, and Ansys are all involved with Panasonic. Whoever takes on Qiming will get a commission."
He sent it out.
He was looking at his phone.
Of his clients, three responded. Their message was, "I've got it."
There are 62 families left. They won't go back.
He was looking at his phone.
He glanced up at the table. On it was the document he had retrieved last August when he went to Vilan for its B+ round of financing.
He didn't look at those numbers last year. He's looking at them today.
Wei Lan. 23 billion.
At 5 PM today, Caijing published an article stating that he raised his hand and clicked on it, revealing that Vilan's market value was 30 billion.
He raised his hand and slapped the table.
He picked up the document from last year on the table and threw it into the trash can.
He looked up.
He glanced at the computer on the table, at the "Youku" live stream on it. It was 10:50 a.m., and the stream featured CCTV's Su Chen.
He raised his hand and turned off the computer.
After the computer was turned off, the office was quiet. After the silence, he understood.
He understood and walked into that same seat in the obscure laboratory where there were three people and three tables three years ago.
Enlightened, from behind, walked up.
……
On the same day, at 6 PM.
Lin Wei's office on the 32nd floor of the Vilan headquarters in Shanghai.
Jiang Mingyuan pushed open the door and entered, holding a handwritten note in his hand.
"Today," he said, "Su Chen, the highest honor certificate in the industry."
Lin Wei lowered her head.
"Qiming" said, "When Su Chen went on stage to speak, the audience couldn't stop applauding."
He paused.
"3 PM," he said. "Huang Qiming, Synaptics and Ansys agent."
He paused at 3:30, then added, "The regional agency arrangements have been readjusted."
"They were passive," he said. "They were moved by Vilan's enlightenment."
Lin Wei nodded.
"Berlin," Jiang Mingyuan paused, "Klaus Weber, at 9:00 AM Berlin time this morning, proposed 'to serve Vivian as the main dish.'"
"He was enlightened," he paused, "After enlightenment, he went up. Before enlightenment, he didn't go up."
Lin Wei looked up.
"Qimingfa" says, "Crossing one field, crossing three fields, crossing five fields."
She said, "Weilan won't leave, but the industry will."
"Yes," he said.
"Tomorrow," she said, "the Qiming Project will be launched, recruiting the first batch of 200 people before the end of the year. The project's chief engineer is Su Chen."
"Yes"
"Qiming didn't mention Lin Che," she paused. "But Qiming was telling him."
Jiang Mingyuan nodded.
He walked out the door, and the door closed.
She looked up and gazed out the window. It was six o'clock in Shanghai, and the lights were coming on.
She picked up the pen on the table and wrote two words on the back of the Qiming folder.
"Gone."
