Chapter 31 Mysterious Pottery Jar and Sandworm Crisis

Chapter 31 Mysterious Pottery Jar and Sandworm Crisis

The ancient pottery jar sat quietly in a corner of the ruins. In the dim light, the strange symbols engraved on the jar seemed to emit a mysterious glow, as if telling a long-ago story, or as if hiding some unknown power.

Wanru's gaze was fixed on the pottery jar, her heart filled with both tension and anticipation. She was tense because they were currently being besieged by a dense swarm of sandworms, and the situation was critical; she was also hopeful that the pottery jar might be the key to their escape. Without thinking twice, she hurried towards the jar, silently praying that it would come in handy.

Huanmo was fiercely battling the sandworms. He swung his arms, punching and kicking with unwavering determination. However, the sandworms were simply too numerous; as soon as he repelled one wave, a new one surged forward. Beads of sweat covered his forehead, sliding down his cheeks only to evaporate instantly in the dry air. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Wanru running towards the pottery jar. His heart skipped a beat, fearing she might be in danger, but he was currently entangled by the sandworms and couldn't break free. He could only anxiously call out in his heart, "Wanru, be careful!"

The man in white played his jade flute, the urgent melody echoing within the ruins, transforming into invisible forces attempting to disrupt the sand worms' movements. But the sand worms seemed unmoved, continuing their frenzied surge towards the group. The man in white frowned, his eyes filled with seriousness. He knew how troublesome these sand worms were, and understood that the power of the jade flute alone might not be enough to completely resolve the crisis. Seeing Wanru run to retrieve the mysterious pottery jar, a glimmer of hope ignited within him, hoping that the jar might bring a turning point.

Qingwan was doing her best to maintain the protective barrier of the spirit pearl. Her face grew increasingly pale, and her lips trembled slightly, clearly indicating that maintaining the barrier had exhausted her energy. Her gaze was fixed on the sand worms that were constantly attacking the barrier, her heart filled with worry. The sand worms' attacks were too fierce; she didn't know how long the barrier could hold out, and could only hope that the pottery jar Wanru had found would be of some help.

The white tiger roared to the side, constantly darting around the group, using its sharp claws and teeth to pounce on the sandworms, trying to relieve the pressure on them. But with so many sandworms, it gradually became overwhelmed.

Wanru ran to the pottery jar, squatted down, and carefully reached out to touch it. The moment her fingers touched the jar, a chill ran through her body, making her shiver. She took a deep breath, hugged the jar tightly, stood up, and ran back to the crowd.

Just then, a sand worm suddenly pounced on Wanru from the side. Wanru screamed in fright, stumbled, and almost fell to the ground. Fortunately, Huanmo reacted quickly. He broke free from the sand worms around him, rushed forward, and kicked the sand worm far away.

"Wanru, are you alright?" Huanmo helped Wanru up and asked anxiously.

Wanru shook her head and said, "I'm fine. Quickly see if this pottery jar can help!"

The crowd gathered around, their eyes fixed on the mysterious pottery jar.

Wanru carefully examined the symbols on the pottery jar, trying to find some clues. But the symbols were obscure and difficult to understand, and she couldn't figure them out even after looking at them for a long time.

The man in white also stepped forward to take a look. He frowned slightly and said, "These symbols look very ancient, and I don't quite understand their meaning either. However, since they're here, they must have a purpose. Perhaps we can try to open them and see."

Huanmo nodded and said, "That's the only way. But we have to be careful; we don't know what might be inside."

Qingwan maintained the protective barrier of the spirit pearl, vigilantly watching the surrounding sand worms to prevent them from taking the opportunity to attack.

So, Huanmo reached out and gently lifted the lid of the pottery jar. The lid seemed tightly closed, but with Huanmo's gentle prying, it slowly opened.

An aged scent emanated from the earthenware jar, accompanied by a faint glow. Curious, everyone peered into the jar and saw a crystal-clear bead inside, emitting a soft light that seemed to possess a calming power, slightly easing the tension in the crowd.

"What kind of beads are these?" Wanru asked in surprise.

The man in white shook his head and said, "I don't know either, but judging from the light, it shouldn't be an ordinary thing. Maybe it can deal with these sandworms."

Huanmo reached out and took the bead out of the pottery jar. The moment he grasped the bead, a powerful force surged into his body, making him feel full of power.

"I feel like this bead can give me power. I'll go try to deal with these sandworms!" Huanmo said, gripping the bead tightly and turning to rush towards the sandworms.

He swung his fists, each punch carrying the power bestowed by the bead. The sandworms that were hit were sent flying, some even having their shells shattered and collapsing to the ground, motionless.

Seeing this, the man in white was overjoyed. He quickened the pace of his jade flute playing, making the melody even more exciting, and coordinated with Huanmo's attack to further disrupt the sandworm's movements.

Qingwan also sensed a turning point. She slightly relaxed her maintenance of the spirit pearl's protective barrier and focused more on observing the surrounding situation so that she could deal with any new dangers that might arise in time.

The white tiger seemed encouraged as well, roaring as it pounced on the sandworms even more fiercely.

With everyone's combined efforts, the sandworms' offensive gradually weakened, and they began to retreat, no longer surging towards the group as frantically as before.

Seeing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

However, just as the sandworms were about to retreat completely, a tremendous roar suddenly came from the depths of the ruins. The sound seemed to come from the earth's core, shaking the entire ruins. The ground shook violently, and everyone lost their footing and fell to the ground.

Dust billowed, obscuring the sky, and amidst the chaos, a colossal figure slowly emerged from the depths of the ruins. When the figure became fully clear, everyone's eyes widened in astonishment. It was an even larger sand beast, its sand armor harder than the one they had encountered before, gleaming with a more dazzling metallic luster. Its blood-red eyes, filled with ferocity and greed, stared intently at the group.
