Chapter 192 Day 3
Chapter 192 Day 3
Undead warriors from the sky swooped down towards Dalaran...
They are different from the mindless undead army; they are elite warriors of the Forsaken...most of them belong to the Undercity's main warband, the Hand of Vengeance. They all have their own consciousness and beliefs, and their goal in this war is to conquer Dalaran.
The Queen's order was to eliminate all threats around Undercity and, ideally, conquer the entire north.
Under such a strategic objective, everyone except humanity under the protection of the Silver Dawn is an enemy.
The enemy consists of the Scarlet Crusade, composed of mad refugees from Lordaeron who have taken up positions in Hearthglen, Tyr's Hand, and Scarlet Monastery in the Eastern and Western Plaguelands.
There's also the Naxxramas Suspended Death Fortress, hovering above Stratholme, once Lordaeron's most populous and prosperous city.
Along with Scholomance on the island of Caer Darrowshire, and several outposts in Stratholme, rows upon rows of necromantic towers lined the outskirts of Naxxramas. The Scourge had constructed a tight defensive line, and the north had become almost a death trap.
The northern lands, where ghosts roam... are now only filled with the mournful cries echoing through the withered, decaying forests.
The only exception is the Ebon Blade, located above Tyr's Hand, where a large number of newly converted death knights seem to have lost the Lich King's control after Arthas and Ner'zhul merged... They gradually regained their senses and acquired the will to be free.
In layman's terms, they've grown brains again. They've taken control of their bodies and souls... at least for now, they consider themselves free.
Like the Forsaken Queen of Undercity, who was killed by Arthas's Frostmourne and transformed into an undead banshee, they were transformed into death knights who wield the corrupting power of death's frost and blood.
The feeling of being resurrected through connection with the power of death, the twisted soul and the pain often leave the Death Knights of the Ebon Blade bewildered.
The immortals possess thoughts and memories, which only bring endless torment and curses.
Aside from a few lunatics and perverts, nobody wants to be immortal... especially when it means becoming the very thing they once loathed and hated after death. This so-called blessing from the Grim Reaper is actually one of the cruelest punishments.
The Death Knights of the Ebon Blade are slightly different from the Death Knights summoned by Lorraine using vengeful spirits.
The difference is that the Death Knights of the Black Knights have temporarily lost their masters...
Many Death Knights were originally Paladins or warriors of various races who were transformed after death. Naturally, they became close to the Argent Dawn, which was mainly composed of descendants of the Silver Hand Paladins, and gradually began to make contact with them.
The Knights of the Ebon Blade harbored some suspicion towards Undercity; they were unwilling to join either the Horde or the Alliance...
But revenge against the Lich King Arthas and his mindless minions seems to be a common and necessary goal!
The Queen did not stop the Argent Dawn from launching their attack on the remnants of the Scourge in the north; instead, she sent troops to join the battle... This represented the Horde's goodwill, and Warchief Thrall agreed with Sylvanas's opinion...
In reality, the Queen is now in charge of the Eastern Kingdoms...
Her meaning was clear: the tribe wasn't just a group of beasts who only knew how to kill, a bunch of homeless wanderers, enslaved orcs... trolls, or even tauren who inherently loved nature and respected tradition...
Or perhaps the Forsaken, resurrected from the dead in the human kingdoms of Lordaeron and the elven empire of Quel'Serrar...
They were all burdened with deep-seated grievances and had nowhere to go. Anyone in their situation would have no choice but to fight back by any means necessary...
The major races of the alliance naturally wouldn't stand idly by while their homelands were invaded... Everyone tacitly agreed and worked hard to defend their territory...
The only truly neutral factions are the Argent Dawn, the Cenarion Council, and the Earth Ring...
Of course, there's also Dalaran, which has already declared neutrality, and the dragon race, which has been protecting Azeroth for millennia, gradually emerging... Strictly speaking, dragons are not neutral; they are a high-ranking quasi-god race.
Dragons despise mortals, just like countless other races that have perished over countless ages...
When you see too much, you become indifferent.
Until the demons invaded, magic fell into the hands of the insignificant mortal races...
The dragons sensed a threat. Ten thousand years ago, the High Elf Queen Azshara, obsessed with the power of magic, destroyed the Well of Eternity, shattering the world...
Today, humanoid races are flourishing...
Humans who have risen from the dead are more terrifying than the living; the power of death, represented by the Scourge, is spread by the dreadlords...
Even the burning demon army from the depths of space seemed astonished to discover that the power of the soul, whether in life or death, is something the Creator cannot fully control... Within the souls of every race in the world, even the smallest animal, noble, sacred, radiant, and resilient individuals may be born...
From the ancient texts of Dalaran, Medivh's mother, the current Honorary President of the Undead Research Society and Guardian of the Forsaken... Lady Aegwynn, who issued quests to Lorraine, discovered...
It seems that there are many unknown forces in the other world. They feed on souls... and live on the energy generated by the birth, death, and activities of all living things... They seem to be the legendary Titans, Star Souls, or the high and ruthless gods?
The emergence of the immortals marks the beginning of a mysterious force taking center stage...
The Burning Legion, which has historically represented chaos and destruction, is also a lackey of some other power.
On the surface, they are the world-destroying legions summoned by the Dark Titan Sargeras, but in reality, they are merely laborers of the Six Forces... Aegwynn needs more evidence to confirm this.
The resurrection of a dual-soul entity like Lorraine, a rare occurrence in the past... the fact that she has now appeared in the realm of the dead means that someone has crossed that line...
The threat of death is closing in!
Lorraine's mission is to rescue the legendary mage of Dalaran, a key member of the Council of Tirisfal, and now the earliest Deathbringer imprisoned deep within Dalaran... The voice that had been in his and his teacher's minds had always existed, though it had never reappeared since they entered Dalaran.
Neither Lorraine nor Rowling will forget their resurrection twelve days ago!
Right now, the Lich King and his minions are too powerful, and the side of justice needs more help.
The so-called side of justice is not just a combination of priest and warrior clad in plate armor who can unleash holy magic... but also the messengers of holy light, the Church of Light, and the paladins!
Humans, elves, orcs, undead, trolls, tauren, dwarves, gnomes, goblins, pandaren, draenei... all beings with souls on Azeroth or other planets must fight for themselves!
The Argent Dawn shares the same view of both the Horde and the Alliance, believing that whether it be the resurrected Forsaken, the surviving Scarlet Crusade, or the Alliance, they are all, in essence, children of Lordaeron...
Even trolls, orcs, high elves... these are foreign, migrating, ancient, savage, and fragmented groups...
We have only one enemy: the Scourge, the Lich King!
Everyone fears death, except the Forsaken and the Scourge...
The main Scourge army has gone to Northrend in the Arctic, but large numbers of undead still roam several strongholds in the Eastern and Western Plaguelands... Wraiths, zombies, and skeletons wander everywhere... Just a few days ago, the Horde warriors of Undercity captured Andorhal and defeated the lich Ras & Frostwhisper who were waiting for an opportunity to attack...
Most of the Scourge remnants retreated to Scholomance, wary of the Alliance lurking near Icewind Pass...
Instead of continuing north, the Queen turned and headed straight for Dalaran below, aiming for the Alterac Mountains and Hillsbrad Foothills...
At the same time, she completely eliminated any threats in the direction of Shadowfang Keep. She temporarily moved closer to Greymane Wall to prevent the werewolves from continuing to threaten Silverpine Forest. She set up her forward command post near Ambermill, which Lorraine had captured...
The destruction of Black Gilneas, the last remaining human kingdom on the northern edge of the land, is imminent...
They could even move towards Kul Tiras at sea, thus preventing a continuous threat from the sea to Undercity and Silvermoon City... and disrupting the Horde's supply lines between the two continents...
"Lorraine, the plague messenger, please don't die..."
As the Queen watched her warriors charge fearlessly toward Dalaran like dumplings being dropped into a pot, she muttered to herself.
